Hi Guys,

Can anyone recommend any good fantasty /
Sci-fi books. I currently read
horror/thriller (King, Koontz, Herbert,
etc).
I've also just finished Lord of the rings,
and fancy something similar. Even if anyone
can recommend and good sci-fi.
I was looking round WHSmith and a couple of
names popped up - David Gemmell, Terry
Pratchet.
Any recomendations?
Thanks
Sinnery

ooooooh i love fantasy books!
first off try your library or second hand
shops, both cheaper options
some good authors you might want to try are
Terry Brooks (shannara/magic kingdom)
Terry Pratchett (discworld)
Raymond E Fiest (riftwar/serpentwar)
Maggie Furey (aurian)
Robert Jordan (book of time series)
Robin Hobb(farseer/liveship/tawny man)
James Barclay (raven)
Julia Gray (guardian cycle)
hope these help, some really good series
there, enjoy!

have you read the Hobbit by Tolkein or Other
tales by him as you know he is the author of
THe Lord of The Rings. Also try the Witch
world series by Andre Norton She is good (she
created Beastmaster, Elvenblood, and several
others.) she is a great read.

As Terry Pratchett's already been mentioned,
I'll mention my other favourite author;
Jane Lindskold, with her Firekeeper series.

A series of books about a young girl being
raised by intelligent wolves, and her
reintegration back into human society - she's
the supposed lost heir to a dying monarchy,
and the books not only revolve around her
experiences becoming 'human' again, but
there's a massive amount of conspiracy,
plotting, and politics.

it!!
The author is only 13 years old.

If you liked The Lord of the Rings perhaps
you could try his other works:

The Hobbit
The Silmarillion
Adventures of Tom Bombadil
The Children of Hurin

Other than Tolkien I'd probably recommend

The Chronicles of Narnia
The Earthsea Cycle
Watership Down
