I do, if you tune into 252 now (in western
europe) you will hear RTE Radio 1, an irish
Talk Station although not transmitted as
powerfully as Alantic as RTE coverage area is
aimed for Ireland unlike Alantic 252's
coverage for Ireland and the UK and
surrounding areas.
But yeh, just wondered about the station and
came across this site,
[edited]
(take out the spaces i added)
I didnt relise there studios in ireland were
so like the ones i used to work out...hardly
studio looking like (eg the walls). Now i
know why some people in the know would say
they used to broadcast from a shed hehe!
but yeh, why not take a look, might bring
back some memories if u listening to the
station from the 80's and 90's.
Even legendary DJ Mylo has a bit on there...
ps if you live serevral hundard miles away
from the UK/Ireland you probably wont know
what I'm on about as this was before the days
of internet radio etc and the station was
only recieveable on LW.
anyone know how to upload audio to the
internet from cassette tape? thinking of
sending the website previously mentioned some
audio for their archive of the station.
(surprised they don't have any VHS tapes of
their broadcasts as by law radio stations in
the UK have to record their output incase of
complaint by listeners and keep for at least
6 months and then they keep it or reuse the
tapes. The station i worked for did that as
VHS was the standard form of recording the
audio using E240 tapes in long play mode (8
hours, cheep and easy)).
Arrow Classic Rock? yeh I can get that
clearly from here too...expcally at night,
some good stuff music wise on there sometimes
(oldie wise)
Radio 10 gold also from holand on 1008AM is
also quite clear, remember when that used to
be on 675am too!!
used to make me laugh when they used to
anounce the station as in english it sounds
like radio ding dong! hehe!
been years since i listened to them as
well...
There was another one on 1062am from a
europe, bit like radio one/kiss fm on friday
and saturday nites... Denmark radio 2 i think
it was. tried to tune into them tonight but
couldnt find them there so i think the
station has gone...was a great station for
dance on friday/saturday evenings (dispite
the fact i had no idea what the DJ was saying
between songs)
Some good music at other times too...
Humm..think i mite start listening to AM
stations again like i used to when i was tiny
when i got my first radio (which was AM only)
in 1993!
hey why was the site edited? just type
atlantic 252 into google if u wanna look it
up...not like people are gonna start chatting
on there instead of here...think that was a
bit erm...over the top.... next ur type about
cars and they remove that next!
yep, thats true... but ive research those
Pirate stations as part of a project i began
for my media course in college... as well as
having an interest.
Listening to Radio Caroline when it
broadcasted (legually) from a ship on the
south cost back in 1999 or somewhen around
then. Think they are on sky now as a full
time station so ive heard.
maybe 23, but i got hocked on radio listening
straight away.
East coast, thats where a lot of the pirate
stations where heard from right? coz they
were in the North sea for a lot of their
broadcasts...back well before my time
though!!
modern day pirates are nothing like the past
ones...I expect u would say they arn't pirate
stations if u heard them!
Did u know BBC Radio 1 was actually the BBC's
answer to the pirate stations in the 60's?
i know so much about radio when i wasnt even
around hehe!
yeh lived the 80s and 90s so yeh, can relate
to stations from then quite well (hence
Atlantic 252 in this case).
Also brought up on a lot of stuff from the
50's 60's and 70's too from other people inc
my mum and radio stations i came across.
